NEW SONGS NEW SPIRIT
some of the new songs that we are writing are finding their colour and shape. and seeing/feeling iggy pop, arctic monkeys, the nightwatchman & smashing pumpkins last weekend worked inspiring as well.
patty wrote a great song and cool lyrics to it!! patty’s song is an uptempo reckless roll stomper with sharp hooks and melodies that are finding their place in the song now.
colin wrote about 329 songs/ideas last month;) and some of them are really coming to life lately while being played with electric guitars and drums:
and i wonder started out as an acoustic poptune while we wrote it together in our house, singing along loud during the chorus. now we added gigantic dynamics in forms of some fine floor-tomb action, that changed the song into one of our most loud intense songs, fueled with energy and clap-along parts;)
in these living times is one of my personal favorites at the moment. with it’s dramatic undertone and great chorus, this could be colin’s live song to play alone on guitar. when it’s played with full band it rocks, sounds differenty and even slightly funky. maybe we’ll play both versions fuck it
other newbies as black summer, straight flush of hearts and lovesong 2007 are premiered at a live gig already, and go back into the rehearsal space for more work.
other songs that might end up on our first album: hoochie mama dress, what ya gonna do today?, seasons fade away, lonesome in november, break an egg
so far for now.. after some decent sleep tomorrow we gonna get together again at the rehearsal room, and mix some serious work on the songs with the usual intense fabulous spirit in making our own soulful music and small talk
let it roll!!!
Waterhole Amsterdam
hey!
we spread our reckless roll all over the centre of amsterdam, rocking at the waterhole at leidseplein. Black Bandit played 2 halfhour sets, and there seemed to be quite some folks that liked our music and performance.. which is obviously a good thing for us!! we were asked by the manager to come and play more often in the waterhole. this was that rare subject that didn’t bring out the knifes between colin, patty and me: all 3 of us agreed within about 0,666 seconds;)
anyways, besides playing velvet underground’s "beginning to see the light", the focus is writing original material. last weeks there were moments of huge out-of-our-heads sincere primal soulfull inspriration.. resulting in over 10 new songs/ideas. so now we are creating atmopheres in which we can capture the moments and finish a certain tune.
setlist 1 at waterhole 12 may 2007: way ahead of the game, shimmery lane, stay tuned, break an egg, pink coat, lonesome in november, lemonbeatle, black summer, what ya gonna do today?
setlist 2: hoochie mama dress, beginning to see the light, no sugar no creamer, seasons fade away, patty lemonhead, straight flush of hearts, coming back for more, what ya gonna do today?
Shows in Amsterdam
Great that you keep checking this site again, we gonna try to update it more regularly in the future!!
Tomorrow BB gonna play a show at Crea in the centre of Amsterdam. We got this confirmed just an hour ago, but we are totally ready for it. After our CD came out we have written many more songs. So thursday is a great opportunity for you to hear them.
Many thanks for all our friends and everyone else who came out to our gig at the Red Light Zone!!! We had a great time there and appreciate it very much that you all showed up. The fact that we almost got kicked out of the venue is a sign that the night was good;)
Stay tuned!
